Summary: The role of Financial Controller is a 12-month fixed-term contract within a lower mid-market private equity firm in London. The position involves comprehensive ownership of financial reporting, tax obligations, and partner economics, requiring a hands-on approach and strong stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will work closely with a lean finance team and manage various financial processes, including statutory accounts and regulatory reporting. Key Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of quarterly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary
  • Oversight of month-end and quarter-end close across UK and Guernsey entities
  • Strong balance sheet control (accruals, prepayments, intercompany)
  • Preparation of statutory accounts and primary liaison with external auditors
  • UK VAT and Corporation Tax oversight, working closely with external advisors
  • FCA regulatory reporting for the UK investment adviser
  • Coordination with Guernsey administrators and oversight of outsourced processes
  • Management of partner distributions, payroll, bonuses and compensation mechanics
  • Acting as a key finance contact for partners and senior stakeholders
  • Supporting process improvement in a small, fast-moving finance function

Key Skills:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager within financial services, private equity, venture, asset management or similar environments
  • Experience with UK LLP structures highly desirable
  • Strong Excel capability and comfort working with NetSuite or similar systems
  • Meticulous, detail-oriented, pragmatic and commercially minded
  • Confident operating in a small team with senior stakeholders

Successful Lower Mid-Market Private Equity Fund | London

We are working with a high-performing, lower mid-market private equity firm to appoint an experienced Financial Controller on a 12-month fixed-term contract within a lean, high-calibre finance team. This is a hands-on controller role with genuine ownership across reporting, tax, regulatory obligations and partner economics, operating within a UK LLP structure with international touchpoints.

The Role

Reporting into the Head of Finance, you will take ownership of the UK and offshore corporate finance agenda, including:

  • Ownership of quarterly management accounts , including variance analysis and commentary
  • Oversight of month-end and quarter-end close across UK and Guernsey entities
  • Strong balance sheet control (accruals, prepayments, intercompany)
  • Preparation of statutory accounts and primary liaison with external auditors
  • UK VAT and Corporation Tax oversight, working closely with external advisors
  • FCA regulatory reporting for the UK investment adviser
  • Coordination with Guernsey administrators and oversight of outsourced processes
  • Management of partner distributions, payroll, bonuses and compensation mechanics

This is a role that sits above transaction processing and requires confidence operating at journal level and beyond, with strong judgement and stakeholder credibility.

Candidate Profile

ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified

Contract & Compensation

12-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover)

Start ideally February / March (June at latest)
