Our client is seeking a financial accountant to join their business on a 12-month contract as a maternity cover.

What You'll Do

Your day-to-day activities will involve preparing detailed financial reports, supporting budgeting processes, collaborating with both internal teams and external auditors, and ensuring compliance with statutory obligations. You will be relied upon to provide accurate reconciliations, offer insightful analysis of variances, and contribute positively to process improvements within the finance department.

  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards, ensuring all reporting deadlines are met
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes by reconciling accounts, analysing variances, and providing clear explanations for any discrepancies
  • Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts by gathering data from various departments and ensuring all figures are thoroughly reviewed for accuracy
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including VAT returns, corporation tax computations, and other regulatory filings
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all financial transactions by posting entries into the general ledger and performing regular reconciliations of key accounts
  • Work closely with external auditors during interim and year-end audits by preparing schedules, responding to queries, and providing necessary documentation promptly
  • Provide timely support to colleagues across the business by answering finance-related queries and offering guidance on best practices when required

What You Bring

You will bring proven experience from previous roles involving statutory reporting, reconciliations, budgeting support, and audit preparation. Your background should include familiarity with relevant accounting standards such as UK GAAP or IFRS.
