Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and supporting year-end close activities
- Preparing and posting journals (accruals, prepayments, adjustments)
- Completing balance sheet reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
- Producing statutory accounts and audit schedules
- Acting as key contact for external auditors
- Supporting month-end reporting where required
- Reviewing and strengthening financial controls and processes
- Assisting with cashflow, P&L and balance sheet reporting
- Providing ad-hoc financial analysis and support
Key Skills:
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified or part-qualified (or strong QBE)
- Experienced in year-end close and audit processes
- Technically strong with solid UK GAAP knowledge
- Confident in reconciliations and financial reporting
- Advanced in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, analysis)
- Experienced with accounting/ERP systems
- Detail-oriented, organised and proactive

We are working with a Social Housing Association seeking a Financial (Year-End) Accountant to support their finance team during a critical reporting period. This is a 6-month fixed-term contract offering the opportunity to take ownership of year-end processes and play a key role in delivering accurate statutory and management accounts.
The Role
Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will lead and support the year-end close process, ensuring all financial reporting requirements are delivered accurately and on time.
