Summary: An international travel business is looking for a Senior Financial Accountant for a 6-month contract to support their finance team in London. The role requires a strong technical accounting background, excellent process improvement skills, and experience in full-cycle accounting within a multinational environment. This position is suited for a contractor who excels in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle accounting processes, including month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis across AP, AR, and GL.
- Oversee financial operations for a dormant subsidiary, including management reporting, statutory returns, and audit compliance.
- Prepare and submit timely monthly and quarterly financial reports in compliance with company policies and relevant accounting standards.
- Prepare quarterly GST filings, tax computations, and deferred tax entries.
- Monitor and produce monthly cash flow reports and forecasts; track receivables and payables.
- Review journals and supporting schedules produced by the GL shared service centre.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost recovery strategy development for shared services and centralized assets.
- Ensure compliance with corporate tax, audit, and statutory obligations, liaising with external tax agents, auditors, and corporate secretaries.
- Assist with integration projects and drive continuous improvements in financial processes and system efficiency.
- Respond to internal stakeholder queries and participate in cross-functional projects as required.
Key Skills:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent), with post-qualification experience.
- Big 4 trained or experience in audit/accounting at a top-tier professional services firm (preferred).
- Strong understanding of statutory reporting, tax compliance, and Financial Reporting Standards.
- Proven ability to work across multinational teams and support multiple legal entities.
- Experience with SAP or large ERP systems (advantageous).
- Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage internal and external stakeholders effectively.
- Proactive and adaptable, with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
