Summary: The Interim Group Financial Accountant role is a 6-month position based in Hemel Hempstead, responsible for supporting the production of statutory accounts in accordance with IFRS, month-end reporting, VAT returns, and external audit queries. The role requires collaboration with the management accounts team and business leaders to ensure financial accuracy and compliance. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in financial accounting and a strong understanding of corporation tax and VAT regulations. This position is crucial for maintaining financial controls and delivering timely financial insights to the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a strong and current understanding of IFRS including IFRS16.
- Ensure all financial accounting information is accurate, compliant with relevant standards, and delivered within agreed deadlines.
- Prepare statutory accounts under IFRS, including maintenance of the fixed asset register.
- Prepare the monthly board pack with accurate financial insights.
- Act as the primary contact for external auditors during half-year and year-end audits, as well as throughout the year.
- Collaborate closely with the management accounts team to ensure accurate and timely month-end reporting.
- Support month-end close activities by preparing analysis and participating in P&L review meetings.
- Oversee and review balance sheet reconciliations on a quarterly basis.
- Partner with business leaders to enforce financial controls across the organisation.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of corporation tax and VAT regulations.
- Collaborate with external advisors to prepare corporation tax computations and ensure timely submission of annual tax returns.
- Produce accurate corporate tax provisions and deferred tax calculations for reporting purposes.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with all reporting and payment deadlines.
Key Skills:
- ACA or ACCA qualified.
- At least 5 years PQE, ideally from a similar Group Financial Accountant Role.
- Understanding of a multi-site, international business.
- Proven financial accounting skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong excel skills.
