Summary: The role of Interim Financial Accountant involves supporting a finance team in an established software business during a period of transformation. Key Responsibilities:
- Review contracts and bookings to ensure accurate revenue and billing profiles
- Prepare and post monthly revenue and COS journals
- Own revenue and COS month-end close tasks
- Reconcile deferred and accrued income, cost to fulfil, prepayments, and accruals
- Support improvements to revenue recognition and COS processes
- Analyse revenue performance and provide commentary on variances
- Collaborate with Sales, Projects, and other Finance teams to validate inputs
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (FRS 102, IFRS 15)
- Provide audit support for revenue and COS areas
- Identify areas to automate or streamline revenue/COS processes
- Help integrate acquired entities into group revenue reporting
Key Skills:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA, CIMA)
- Strong technical grounding in revenue and cost of sale accounting (FRS 102 / IFRS 15)
- Proven ability to handle complex contracts and revenue models
- Confident working across ERP and CRM systems
- Effective communicator – written & verbal
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel
- Extensive experience of revenue recognition & cost of sale accounting
- Thorough, organised, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment

You’ll be hands-on with all aspects of revenue and cost of sale accounting, helping embed best practice and improve how the team uses its systems (Salesforce & NetSuite) This is a great fit for someone who enjoys the detail - getting stuck into reconciliations, interrogating contract data, and ensuring revenue is recognised cleanly and consistently.
