Summary: The role of Interim Financial Accountant involves providing comprehensive support during the audit period for a Central Birmingham organization. The position requires a strong technical accounting background and the ability to manage various financial tasks, including month-end activities and preparation of financial statements. The candidate must be Midlands-based and able to commute to the office 2-3 days a week. An immediate start is available for qualified applicants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Completion of month end activities e.g. opening and closing accounting periods, preparing prepayment journals and other ad hoc journals
  • Preparation/review of monthly accounts payable, accounts receivable and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Maintaining the asset register and lease models and preparing/reviewing monthly asset and lease reconciliations
  • Preparation of VAT and Tax returns
  • Preparation/review of and publication of statutory accounts
  • Support the preparation of the financial statements and notes within the Accounts
  • Prepare and provide documentation to external auditors and working with them to resolve queries during the audit
  • Support the analysis of current processes to identify and implement ways to improve processes and financial control

Key Skills:

  • Strong technical accounting background and financial accounting skills
  • Proven experience in reconciling financial data
  • Proven experience in the preparation of accounts and financial statements and experience of audits
  • Familiarity with financial software and ERP systems used for financial reporting and ledger management
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • Good organisation and self-management
  • Ability to present financial information clearly and confidently to various audiences, including senior management and external auditors
  • Proficient in using Excel and ability to use skills to analyse and present data
  • Qualifications ACCA/ACA Qualified

Day rate: £350 - £425
