Detailed Description From Employer:

Interim Financial Accountant | £60,000 - £65,000 | 6-Month FTC | Hybrid - Bradford

Are you a hands-on financial accountant who enjoys getting into the detail - unpicking accounts, solving problems, and leaving things in a far better place than you found them? If you like working independently, digging into messy balance sheets, and treating the numbers like a puzzle to be solved, this could be right up your street.

We're partnering with a growing business based in Bradford. The business is going through a period of systems and reporting change, with a new finance system going live in February, a change in auditors, and a need to get the balance sheet into a really robust, investor-ready position.

This is a standalone, project-focused interim role where experience, judgement, and attention to detail matter far more than hierarchy or headcount.

The Role

You'll step in as the go-to financial accountant, taking ownership of balance sheet integrity, audit readiness, and system-related clean-up work.

  • Balance Sheet Clean-Up: Getting the December balance sheet into a strong, position - reconciling, reviewing, and making the numbers make sense to an investor.
  • Detail & Reconciliation: Unpicking historical postings, reviewing allocations between practices, and ensuring balances are fully understood and supported.
  • Audit Support: Managing the auditor transition and looking after the audit process.
  • Schedules & Support: Producing high-quality schedules to sit behind closing balances and statutory numbers.
  • Systems & Projects: Supporting the go-live of a new system and dealing with ad-hoc project work as issues arise.
  • Year Reset: Supporting a clean clear-down of 2025, ensuring the business starts the year on solid footing.

This is a practical, sleeves-rolled-up role, ideal for someone who enjoys getting into the weeds and fixing things properly, not just ticking boxes.

What we're looking for

  • A strong financial accountant with proven experince of balance sheet reviews and reconciliations.
  • Comfortable working standalone, using initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Happy unpicking accounts end to end and digging into the detail.
  • Experience with Sage 200 would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Ideally qualified, though this can be flexible for the right level of hands-on experience.

Why join?

You'll be joining at a point where your work will really matter. The business is implementing a new system, changing auditors, and preparing for future growth. Getting the foundations right now is critical - and that's exactly where this role comes in.

This Interim Financial Accountant / Project Accountant role offers autonomy, challenge, and the satisfaction of leaving a finance function stronger, cleaner, and more robust than when you arrived.
