Summary: The Interim Finance Officer role involves providing essential support for financial operations within a public sector organization. The position requires strong transactional finance experience and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The role is hybrid, based in either London or Belfast, and is expected to last between 3 to 6 months. Candidates must have current CTC clearance or be willing to undergo the clearance process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of accurate and timely financial processing across AP, AR and general ledger activities
- Assist with month-end tasks including reconciliations, journals and reporting
- Maintain robust financial controls in line with organisational policies and audit requirements
- Prepare and analyse financial information to support decision-making across the finance team
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate coding, approvals and financial compliance
- Assist with ad-hoc finance tasks and contribute to process improvements
Key Skills:
- Previous experience in a Finance Assistant / Finance Officer role within the public sector
- Strong knowledge of core finance processes including accounts payable, receivable and reconciliations
- Confident working with high volumes, tight deadlines and competing priorities
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and organisational skills
- Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues across the business
- Current CTC clearance, or willingness to undertake the process before starting
