Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts for internal and group-level reporting.
  • Oversee timely completion of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory reporting obligations.
  • Support the production of statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors.
  • Review and advise on complex accounting areas such as stock valuation and revenue recognition.
  • Champion process improvements to enhance reporting quality and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Finance to optimise ERP system functionality.
  • Maintain clear internal process documentation for consistency and audit readiness.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as required by management.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment.

Key Skills:

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent).
  • Proven track record in management accounting.
  • Experience in delivering change through improved processes and technology.

Citadel Source are delighted to be exclusively supporting an exciting and innovative SME in the search for an Interim Finance Manager on a 6-9 month FTC basis . This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-evolving finance team at a pivotal point in the company’s strategic journey.

About you

As the Interim Finance Manager, you will be responsible for helping the Head of Finance with the day-to-day running of the finance function, supporting them through an exciting period of change.

As an Interim Finance Manager, your role will include, but not be limited to:

  • Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts for both internal and group-level reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in line with the month-end timetable
  • Oversee timely completion of balance sheet reconciliations, maintaining financial integrity across all accounts
  • Ensure full compliance with statutory reporting obligations, including submissions to HMRC, National Statistics, and other relevant regulatory bodies
  • Support the production of statutory accounts, liaise with external auditors, and assist with bank reporting and corporation tax preparation
  • Review and advise on complex accounting areas such as stock valuation and revenue recognition, working closely with the Head of Finance to uphold accounting standards
  • Champion process improvements that enhance reporting quality, operational efficiency, and team output
  • Collaborate with the Head of Finance to optimise ERP system (Business Central) functionality, driving automation and smarter workflows
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive internal process documentation to support consistency and audit readiness
  • Take on additional responsibilities as required by management, demonstrating flexibility and initiative
  • Foster a collaborative team environment by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and promoting a culture of mutual respect and continuous improvement

What we're looking for

A qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent)

Proven track record of operating within a management accounting position previously

Previous experience in delivering change through improved processes, controls, and technology

Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and knowledge of applicable accounting standards

Drive process improvements whilst improving the quality of outputs
