Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of seven direct reports across financial control and commercial finance.
- Oversee Commercial Finance, FP&A, Tax, and Treasury functions.
- Support the business through a complex audit process, managing external auditors effectively.
- Strengthen technical accounting and statutory reporting capabilities post-audit.
- Maintain oversight of commercial finance and core financial operations.
Key Skills:
- Group Financial Controller or Finance Director level experience.
- Strong technical accounting expertise in statutory reporting, audit, and financial controls.
- Experience in businesses with £500m+ turnover.
- Retail or FMCG experience preferred.

We are partnering with a well-known retail business to appoint an Interim Group Financial Controller / Finance Director during a period of senior leadership transition. This is a high-impact role requiring strong technical expertise, hands-on leadership and the ability to provide stability during a critical audit and reporting period. The role will lead a team of seven direct reports and oversee broad responsibility across both financial control and commercial finance, including Commercial Finance, FP&A, Tax and Treasury. A key priority will be supporting the business through an ongoing and complex audit process, requiring strong technical accounting capability and confident stakeholder management to drive the process and manage external auditors effectively. Following completion of the audit, the role will continue to provide leadership across the finance function, with particular focus on strengthening technical accounting and statutory reporting capability while maintaining oversight of commercial finance and core financial operations.
