Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the finance function and act as the primary point of contact for Private Equity investors, auditors, and advisors.
  • Prepare the business for exit (trade sale, secondary buyout, IPO), including due diligence readiness, data room management, and financial narrative development.
  • Drive high-quality, investor-grade financial reporting, KPIs, and board packs.
  • Oversee forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management to ensure visibility and control.
  • Strengthen financial controls, systems, and processes to ensure scalability and audit readiness.
  • Partner with the CEO and wider leadership team on strategic decision-making and value creation initiatives.
  • Support M&A activity, refinancing, or corporate restructuring as needed in the run-up to exit.
  • Mentor and develop the finance team, ensuring capability and stability through the transaction process.

Key Skills:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent), with a strong post-qualification track record.
  • Proven experience as a Finance Director (or senior finance leader) in Private Equity-backed businesses, ideally having led or supported a successful exit.
  • Deep understanding of exit processes, including due diligence, deal structuring, and investor communications.
  • Strong commercial and strategic mindset, with the ability to balance hands-on delivery with board-level leadership.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, particularly with PE sponsors, advisors, and executive teams.

We are partnering with a Private Equity-backed business entering a critical phase of its investment cycle, with a clear focus on exit readiness and value maximisation. Operating in a fast-paced, growth-oriented sector, the business is seeking a commercially minded, hands-on Interim Finance Director to support its preparation for a potential exit event within the next 12-18 months.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Private Equity sponsors, the Interim Finance Director will play a pivotal role in driving financial performance, strengthening reporting and governance, and ensuring the business is exit-ready from a financial and operational perspective. This role is ideal for a finance leader who has been through PE exits and understands the pace, pressure, and deliverables required in the final stages of the investment lifecycle.
