Summary: The Interim Finance Director will lead the finance function of a private equity-backed professional services business during a strategic transformation. Reporting to the CEO, the role involves enhancing financial governance, improving reporting frameworks, and providing commercial insights to support growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in private equity environments and experience in professional services. This hands-on leadership position requires a proven track record in financial management and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acting as a strategic business partner to the CEO and executive team.
- Leading the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls and compliance.
- Managing and improving board and investor reporting, including KPIs and performance dashboards.
- Driving forecasting, budgeting, and cash management to support commercial and investment decisions.
- Leading on due diligence, integration, and financial planning for potential acquisitions.
- Working closely with operational leads to optimise profitability and drive margin improvement.
- Preparing the business for future value events, including refinancing or exit.
- Mentoring and developing the finance team to build a scalable finance function.
Key Skills:
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with a strong technical grounding.
- Proven experience as Finance Director or equivalent in a private equity-backed business or blue chip company.
- Background in professional services, consulting, or people-based businesses is preferred.
- Strong commercial acumen and a strategic mindset.
- Experience managing complex stakeholder environments, including Boards and PE funds.
- A hands-on leader who can balance strategic thinking with day-to-day delivery.
- Track record of supporting transformation, M&A, and value creation initiatives.
