Summary: The Interim Finance Director will join the leadership team of a purpose-driven organization in Edinburgh, focusing on providing stability and leadership across the finance function. This senior role involves overseeing financial operations, partnering with the CEO and senior leadership team to support strategic decision-making, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring effective and compliant operations
- Oversee payroll, AP/AR, procurement and financial controls
- Produce accurate and timely management accounts, forecasts and cashflows
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and quarterly reforecasts aligned with organisational goals
- Act as a trusted partner to the CEO and SLT, providing commercial and strategic insight
- Drive process improvement and support organisational change
- Ensure systems are used correctly for all invoicing and expenses and project management software is used to update all financial information
- Oversee statutory compliance in the UK and European compliance activities
- Manage relationships with banks, auditors and external stakeholders
- Lead audit, governance, risk management and Companies House filings
Key Skills:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Capable of handling all aspects of the finance function, hands-on through to strategic
- Resilient, able to challenge upwards and work effectively with the rest of the SMT
- Sector experience in consultancy/project-based environments, legal or familiarity with billing rates, WIP etc. are particularly relevant
- Excellent leadership, communication and influencing skills
- Strategic thinker with commercial acumen and attention to detail
