Summary: The role of Interim Finance Director is a 6-month contract based in Bristol, aimed at supporting a well-established business during a significant transition. The position requires a hands-on leader with a strong finance background to ensure operational stability and continuity. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the outgoing Finance Director and manage a capable finance team. Immediate availability is preferred, with a focus on on-site work in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a capable finance team (4 direct reports + wider team)
  • Oversee management accounts, variance analysis, and financial approvals
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including banks, auditors, and software providers
  • Troubleshoot and resolve finance-related issues as they arise
  • Maintain operational stability and confidence during the transition period

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role (FD or equivalent)
  • Strong technical and commercial finance background
  • Comfortable working fully on-site in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to start within the next one-two weeks
  • Experience with Acex Financials and/or Isaac ERP is desirable but not essential.

6-month interim finance contract role

  • Job Title: Interim Finance Director
  • Location: Bristol (fully office-based preferred)
  • Contract: 6 months - covering the rest of this calendar year
  • Start Date: ASAP - ideally within the next fortnight
  • Day Rate: Equivalent to a permanent salary of £80,000-£100,000 (weekly timesheets)

About the Role We are currently recruiting for an experienced Interim Finance Director to support a well-established business in Bristol through a key period of change. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for a commercially astute finance professional who thrives in dynamic environments. You will work closely with the outgoing Finance Director to ensure a smooth and effective handover, providing stability and continuity across the finance function.

The Team & Tools You'll be joining a well-structured finance function, including credit control, purchase ledger, management accounts, and IT. The business operates with Acex Financials and a bespoke ERP system (Isaac).
