Interim Finance Director

We are exclusively supporting a well-established, PE-backed SME with the appointment of an Interim Finance Director on a 12-month basis. Operating within a manufacturing, stock-led and international supply chain environment, the business has revenues of £30m and is entering a key transition period following the planned retirement of a long-standing Finance Director. This role is very much suited to a commercially aware, hands-on finance leader who is comfortable operating within an entrepreneurial SME environment and capable of providing stability, continuity and practical leadership during a period of ongoing evolution.

Based in Bexleyheath, key areas of responsibility will include:

• Leading the day-to-day finance function and managing a small finance team
• Ownership of monthly management accounts, MI and reporting into Group
• Business partnering with the MD and operational leadership team
• Supporting financial controls, cashflow and commercial decision making
• Assisting with ERP integration and wider systems/process improvements
• Supporting restructuring and operational change initiatives where required
• Acting as a steady, visible and pragmatic presence within the business

The successful candidate will likely offer:

• Previous experience as an FD / Head of Finance within an SME environment
• A hands-on, sleeves-rolled-up approach rather than purely strategic oversight
• Strong systems and process improvement capability
• Experience within manufacturing, distribution, stock or import-led businesses
• The ability to operate effectively within a PE-backed or Group reporting structure
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to quickly build credibility
