Summary: The Interim Finance Consultant role focuses on providing financial expertise to local government clients through a hybrid working arrangement. The position involves leading finance functions, creating detailed processes, and fostering strong client relationships. Candidates will have the flexibility to choose projects while being supported by Grant Thornton's Agile Talent Community. The role is expected to last between 3 to 6 months, starting as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Local Authority finance function.
- Create detailed SOPs, workflows, and process maps.
- Implement solutions and resolve financial issues.
- Provide finance business partnering, forecasting, and technical accounting support.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal teams.
Key Skills:
- Hands-on experience in a leadership role within Local Authority finance.
- Consulting experience is highly desired.
- Professional Accounting qualification (ACA, ICAS, CA, ACCA or CIPFA).
- Excellent customer-facing skills and technical accounting knowledge.
- Strong forecasting and finance business partnering abilities.

Skills we are looking for
- Hands-on experience in running and heading up the Local Authority finance function in a leadership role; Consulting experience is highly desired.
- Experience in creating detailed SOPs, workflows, process maps, implement solutions and fix problems
- Excellent finance business partnering, forecasting, technical accounting and customer facing skills
- Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the team and our clients.
- Professional Accounting qualification (ACA, ICAS, CA, ACCA or CIPFA)
