  • Support and challenge service managers to ensure effective resource use and value for money.
  • Engage in analytical reviews, financial modelling, and special projects including external funding bids.
  • Contribute to government and statutory financial returns and internal reporting.
  • Participate in service improvement initiatives and develop insight through benchmarking and cost analysis.
  • Work cross-functionally on both service-specific and corporate initiatives.

Key Skills:

  • Fully qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent preferred), or equivalent substantial local authority experience.
  • Strong track record as a Finance Business Partner within local government.
  • Excellent understanding of CIPFA Codes of Practice and relevant financial regulations.
  • Confident advising senior stakeholders and contributing to strategic decisions.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills; experience with local government financial systems.
  • Capable of challenging assumptions, driving improvement, and working collaboratively with non-finance staff.
