Summary: The role of Interim Finance Business Partner involves providing financial support to key service areas within a Local Government organization in Devon during a period of change. The position requires immediate availability for a contract lasting 6-9 months, with a predominantly remote working arrangement. Previous experience in Local Government finance is essential for effective integration and support. The role includes responsibilities such as budget setting, financial reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acting as a Finance Business Partner to service managers, providing financial insight, challenge, and support
- Leading on budget setting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
- Delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, including variance analysis and commentary
- Supporting senior stakeholders with decision-making through robust financial analysis
- Identifying financial risks and opportunities and developing mitigation strategies
- Supporting transformation initiatives and driving value for money across services
- Ensuring compliance with Local Government financial regulations and reporting requirements
Key Skills:
- Fully or part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
- Proven experience within Local Government finance
- Strong background in business partnering and stakeholder engagement
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into meaningful insight
- Confident communicator, capable of influencing senior non-finance stakeholders
- Experience working in complex, fast-paced public sector environments
- Strong Excel skills; experience with Local Authority finance systems is advantageous
