Summary: The role is for an experienced employment lawyer with at least 6 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) to join a leading investment bank's employment team. The position involves managing a caseload, providing employment advisory support, and liaising with various stakeholders throughout the litigation process. The ideal candidate should possess extensive knowledge of UK employment law and have proven experience in counseling clients on employment matters. The role offers hybrid working arrangements and a contract length of 15 months with potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage own caseload with appropriate supervision and strategic input from senior lawyers.
  • Handle employment litigation and liaise with internal clients and external lawyers.
  • Provide general employment advisory support to HR, ER, compliance, legal, management, and the business.
  • Assist with performance management, employee disputes, disciplinaries, and grievances.
  • Address data privacy issues and advise on contract, compensation, and benefit matters.
  • Advise on contingent workers, status, and disputes.
  • Coordinate with external counsel and internal stakeholders during investigations.
  • Advise on various employment actions within the UK and MEA cluster.

Key Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Proven experience counseling clients on employment law matters in the UK.
  • Experience in reviewing investigations and providing training.
  • Litigation management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and writing skills.

Detailed Description From Employer:

We are looking for an experienced employment lawyer, ideally at least 6 PQE, to work with a leading investment bank's employment team on a range of responsibilities including:

  • There will be day-to-day responsibility for managing your own caseload with appropriate supervision and strategic input from a more senior lawyer also based in London.
  • Managing employment litigation, liaising with internal clients and external lawyers through the litigation process.
  • Providing general employment advisory support to HR, ER, compliance, legal, management and the business;
  • Assisting with performance management, employee disputes, disciplinaries and grievances;
  • Assisting with data privacy issues
  • Advising on contract, compensation and benefit issues, liaising with recruitment, HR, ER, compensation and benefits;
  • Advising on contingent workers, status, disputes etc;
  • Providing employment advice and co-ordinating with external counsel and internal stakeholders during investigations;
  • Advising on various employment actions within the UK and the MEA cluster

The ideal candidate will have:

  • (i) extensive knowledge of UK employment law;
  • (ii) proven experience counseling clients on employment law matters in the Uk
  • (iii) experience of reviewing investigations and providing training
  • (iii) litigation management;
  • (iv) excellent analytical, communication and writing skills; and
  • (v)the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Some understanding of banking/financial institutions or in house experience or overseas would be very helpful.

By working with more senior personnel on the team, the position provides knowledge development.

February/March 2026 start, hybrid working offered. 15 month contract length (potential to extend too).
