Summary: The Interim Director of Audit & Risk will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive Risk Management Strategy for a leading UK not-for-profit organization during a transformative period. Reporting to the Chief People Officer and the Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee, the role involves overseeing internal audit, risk control, and acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders. This position offers the opportunity to influence at the Board level and shape the organization's risk and assurance strategy. The contract is expected to last between 3 to 6 months with a hybrid working arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of a group-wide Risk Management Strategy
- Deliver independent third-line assurance to Board and Executive leadership
- Oversee internal audit, risk control, business continuity, and crisis response
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and represent the organization externally
Key Skills:
- Audit-trained, qualified accountant (ACA preferred)
- Significant leadership experience in regulated environments
- Strategic mindset with a strong track record of influencing at Board level
- In-depth understanding of governance, compliance, and risk frameworks
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
