The Company

Our client is a mid-market, private equity-backed services business embarking on an ambitious buy-and-build strategy. With a significant acquisition pipeline and further investment planned, the business is entering a critical stage of its growth journey, requiring a commercially focused CFO to build the finance infrastructure capable of supporting rapid expansion.

Working closely with the CEO, Board and private equity investors, the successful candidate will lead the evolution of the finance function, ensuring the business has the governance, reporting and commercial insight required to support acquisitions, funding activity and long-term value creation.

The Role: As Interim CFO, you will:

  • Build a finance function capable of supporting continued acquisition-led growth and future strategic milestones.
  • Lead the finance function across Financial Control, FP&A, Treasury and Commercial Finance.
  • Build and embed a scalable FP&A function, improving forecasting, budgeting, KPI reporting and commercial decision support.
  • Establish robust financial governance, controls and reporting processes appropriate for a PE-backed growth business.
  • Partner closely with the Board, investors and lenders, delivering high-quality PE reporting, board packs and covenant reporting.
  • Support ongoing funding activity, debt facilities and lender relationships.
  • Lead the financial aspects of acquisitions, including due diligence, financial modelling, integration planning and post-deal execution.
  • Oversee finance integration across acquired businesses, standardising reporting, controls and finance processes.
  • Lead ERP implementation and embedding across the group, driving consistency, automation and scalability.
  • Improve cash flow forecasting, working capital management and overall financial performance.

Your Profile: You will ideally have:

  • Previous CFO or Finance Director experience within a private equity-backed business.
  • A proven track record supporting buy-and-build strategies and acquisition-led growth.
  • Extensive experience leading finance integration following acquisitions.
  • Strong experience establishing or enhancing FP&A functions within scaling organisations.
  • Experience delivering PE reporting, lender reporting and board reporting.
  • A track record of implementing or embedding ERP systems and improving finance infrastructure.
  • Strong commercial and operational leadership, with a hands-on approach to finance transformation.
  • Immediate or short notice availability.
