Job Opportunity! – Interim Chief Accountant – Predominantly Remote

A local government client of mine are currently on the lookout for an Interim Chief Accountant to join their team and produce their 25/26 draft statement of accounts.

Contract Duration: 5-6 months.

Rate: DOE

Hybrid: Ideally X1 day peer fortnight in office but they could consider 100% remote working for the right candidate.

Days: 4 – 5 days per week.

Start Date: ASAP

You will be expected to:

  • Compile the 24/25 accounts (produce statement of accounts, post year end journals, is there anything extra you would add?)
  • Lead on closing down the 25/26 accounts for the council.
  • Ensure that the council delivers outturn reporting and produces a draft 25/26 statement of accounts by the statutory deadline.
  • Deliver high quality working papers and supporting evidence as a contribution to ensure an effective audit process.
  • Complete IAS19 pension notes.

This will purely be a hands on technical role, rather than having any managerial responsibilities.

Successful candidates:

  • Must have specific local authority experience with a proven track record of leading on closing down the statement of accounts for councils.
  • Must have a current grasp of the accounting code of practice.
