Summary: The role of Interim CFO for a VC-backed online marketplace involves leading the financial strategy and supporting the commercial strategy of a rapidly growing tech scale-up. This six-month contract position offers the opportunity to significantly impact the company's trajectory while managing a small finance team. The role requires close collaboration with the CEO and C-Suite to drive decision-making and oversee financial governance. The position is based in London with a hybrid working arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the financial strategy of the business while shaping and supporting the broader commercial strategy.
- Partner with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to develop and deliver the commercial and strategic plan.
- Provide oversight of all financial governance, ensuring a strong and effective controls environment.
- Own the FP&A function, delivering clear, insightful management information to drive decision-making.
- Manage and develop a high-performing finance team of four.
- Oversee investor relations, maintaining strong stakeholder confidence.
- Ensure a smooth and efficient audit process.
- Evaluate and drive new strategic initiatives to support growth.
- Lead ad-hoc projects as required.
Key Skills:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Experience within online marketplace/digital consumer tech.
- Previous experience in a VC or PE backed environment.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Harmonic are delighted to have been engaged exclusively by a Venture Capital backed Tech Scale-up to recruit an Interim CFO for a 6 month period with the potential of extending and even transferring to permanent employment.
The Client
Our client recently recorded turnover exceeding £25 million and has carved out a niche within their subsector, whereby they have become entrenched as a market leader. Working closely with a CEO and C-Suite that is renowned for their expertise in scaling organisations, this is a fantastic role to have a significant impact on their trajectory. They operate a culture which is renowned for its high-performance, drive and ambition. Based in London, they operate a hybrid policy, with 3 days in the office and 2 from home. Our client has exciting plans to scale the company further and become even more of a globally recognised brand.
The Role
The finance team consists of 4 people, so ensuring the smooth management and development with the finance function is crucial. This position offers a broad remit, covering Financial Accounting, Commercial Finance and Strategic Finance. You'll act as a key point of contact and business partner to the CEO to develop the commercial and financial strategy of the organisation.
