Interim CFO Transformation Consultant 3-Month Project (Potential Extension) Day Rate: £800–£1,000 (Outside IR35) Start date: January A high-growth, global SaaS FinTech business with revenues of £35m is seeking an experienced Interim CFO Transformation Consultant to lead a comprehensive review of its Finance function. Working closely with the CEO, CFO and senior leadership team, this role will assess current processes, structure, systems, data flows, and reporting, and develop a clear set of actionable recommendations to improve efficiency, control, and strategic impact. This is a senior consulting assignment suited to a change-focused CFO or an experienced finance transformation specialist with a track record of diagnosing and uplifting Finance operating models within scaling or technology-enabled environments.
Key Objectives The consultant will take a holistic, “helicopter-view” assessment of the Finance function, identifying practical, achievable improvements across People, Process, Systems, and Data.
Scope of Work Leadership, Processes & Operating Model Engage with the CEO to align on the strategic expectations of Finance, including decision support, reporting, and governance. Review and map core Finance processes (Order-to-Cash, Month-End Close, Forecasting, and Reporting), identifying inefficiencies, manual interventions, rework, and ownership gaps. Assess upstream cross-functional interactions (Sales, HR, Customer Success) that materially affect Finance performance.
Systems, Data & Reporting Assess the current use of Finance systems (including accounting, CRM, and billing), reviewing integrations, automation opportunities, and data quality. Identify where data integrity is compromised before reaching Finance. Evaluate the quality, cadence, and usefulness of management reporting, KPIs, board packs, and forecasts, benchmarking against best-practice SaaS reporting standards.
People, Capability & Delivery Roadmap Review the size, capability, roles, and leadership structure of the Finance team, assessing alignment with the needs of a scaling organisation and identifying development and cross-functional collaboration opportunities. Produce a concise set of findings across People, Process, Systems, and Data, supported by a prioritised Now / Next / Later roadmap and highlighting key dependencies outside Finance required to enable sustainable improvement.
Candidate Profile Significant experience reviewing and redesigning Finance operating models. Strong process-mapping and diagnostic capability. Experience with system and data-flow assessments in scaling or technology-led businesses. A background in SaaS, recurring-revenue, or multi-system environments. The ability to engage credibly with C-suite stakeholders. A pragmatic, delivery-focused approach with an emphasis on achievable improvements.
