Summary: The role of Buyer – Projects involves sourcing and managing suppliers for project-related goods and services within a large-scale industrial environment. The Buyer will negotiate contracts and ensure continuity of supply while collaborating with internal stakeholders and external suppliers. This position requires a strong background in project-based procurement and is classified as inside IR35. The initial contract duration is six months, with the possibility of extension based on project demand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research, source, and negotiate with suppliers for project-related goods and services
  • Manage new and existing suppliers for indirect procurement requirements
  • Create, negotiate, and maintain purchase agreements
  • Lead tendering and RFQ processes for consultancy services and capital project works
  • Analyse market trends and pricing to support procurement strategies
  • Conduct Supplier Business Reviews (SBRs)
  • Use SAP to raise requisitions, purchase orders, run reports, and manage invoices
  • Support supplier onboarding and maintain supplier data via SRM systems

Key Skills:

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in purchasing, ideally within project environments
  • Strong knowledge of JCT, CIC, or equivalent contracts (client-side)
  • Experience using SAP or similar procurement systems
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive tasks through to completion
  • Strong Excel and data analysis capability
  • Team-oriented with a proactive and organised approach

The Role
