Summary: As an Interim Buyer at Browns Fashion, you will support the Head of Buying in executing a successful strategy for the Women’s Designer RTW category. This role involves leading the buying strategy, managing product selection, and fostering relationships with brands to optimize trading decisions. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Designer RTW seasonal buying strategy to ensure a commercially successful product assortment.
  • Manage buying appointments, product selection, brand negotiations, and problem-solving.
  • Source and introduce new brands and products aligned with Browns’ brand identity.
  • Secure exclusives and collaborations with key brands to enhance brand partnerships.
  • Monitor sales performance and market trends to inform buying and trading decisions.
  • Collaborate with Merchandising to optimize Open-To-Buy (OTB) and manage inventory.
  • Build and nurture relationships with existing and new brands to diversify the brand portfolio.
  • Oversee the creation of purchase orders and vendor communication.
  • Coordinate with Senior Buyer on store allocations and marketing activations.
  • Maintain awareness of trends and market developments to identify opportunities.

THE ROLE

As Interim Buyer, you will support the Head of Buying in delivering a commercially successful strategy and curated product assortment within the Women’s Designer RTW category. In this role, you will actively lead the category strategy, buying appointments, product selection, develop strong relationships with new and existing brands, and leverage sales insights to optimise trading decisions. This role provides valuable exposure and an opportunity to directly influence Browns’ buying strategy within a creative, commercially driven environment and period of growth.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the Designer RTW seasonal buying strategy, ensuring Browns' product assortment remains 'best of', innovative, relevant, and commercially successful.
  • Lead in buying appointments, market, and showroom visits, managing the product selection and decision-making, leading brand negotiations and problem solving.
  • Source and introduce exciting new brands and products, bold growth and conviction on opportunities in line with Browns’ brand identity and maximising FF supply opportunity.
  • Secure exclusives, limited distribution collaborations / drops and OTB ambitions with key brands. Solidifying Browns as a priority partner.
  • Weekly monitoring and reporting on sales performance, sell-through rates, and shifting/emerging market trends, providing insights to inform buying, trading and wider business decisions.
  • Driving support where opportunity / risk is identified to drive sales.
  • Collaborate closely with Merchandising to optimise and grow Open-To-Buy (OTB), effectively manage inventory and drive department performance.
  • Proactively identify opportunities and risks, ensuring the assortment remains competitive and reactive to trading performance.
  • Maintain 100% brand retention.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with existing and new brands, positioning Browns as a trusted, valued and strategic partner.
  • Diversify brand portfolio through scaling high potential brands and launching new brands to maintain 'best of' category portfolio.
  • Lead negotiations to secure improved/favourable terms, limited distribution access and exclusives.
  • Oversee accurate and timely creation of purchase orders, product uploads, and vendor communication.
  • Coordinate closely with Senior Buyer on store allocations, Marketing and Brand Partnership activations to ensure maximum exposure and visibility of buy and brand retention.
  • Maintain up-to-date awareness of trends, competitors and market developments, identifying strategic gaps and opportunities.

Who You Are

  • Experience within Women’s RTW categories, leading brand negotiations, OTB management, product selection and inseason trading.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of key brands, industry trends and emerging designers.
  • Strong commercial acumen, capable of balancing creative intuition with data-driven decision-making.
  • Analytical mindset with proven ability to interpret sales data, sell-through, and market trends to inform buying strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in managing brand relationships and internal stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and efficient, able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive, solution-focused, and comfortable working independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
