Summary: The role of Interim Assistant Accountant involves supporting a finance team in a well-known organization based in North London. Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and posting accruals, prepayments and other month-end journals
  • Supporting the month-end close process and assisting with the production of management accounts
  • Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations and investigating variances
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns
  • Supporting the processing of payroll for over 200 employees, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
  • Assisting with payroll reconciliations and responding to payroll-related queries
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting financial controls across the finance function
  • Providing ad hoc support to the wider finance team as required

Key Skills:

  • Previous experience working within an Assistant Accountant role or similar
  • Experience supporting payroll processes, ideally within a medium-sized organisation
  • Strong understanding of accruals, prepayments and journal postings
  • Experience supporting month-end activities and management accounting processes
  • Knowledge of VAT returns and VAT accounting principles
  • Ideally be studying towards a professional accounting qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong Excel skills and excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to thrive within a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Be available to start immediately or on no more than one week's notice
