Summary: The Interim Accounts Payable Manager will oversee accounts payable, treasury support, and procurement processes for a renewable energy business in London during the current manager's absence. This hands-on role requires leading a team of Accounts Payable Assistants and managing end-to-end payment operations, with a focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will possess a strong operational background and be ready to make a significant impact in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily accounts payable activities and ensure timely, accurate processing of invoices and payments.
- Review and authorise high volumes of manual payments across various e-banking platforms and treasury management systems.
- Enforce strict compliance with internal payment policies and delegation of authority controls.
- Act as the primary finance contact for invoice and payment queries across internal teams and suppliers.
- Lead and mentor a team of Accounts Payable Assistants, fostering a culture of accuracy, ownership, and development.
- Liaise with outsourced service providers to support timely month-end bookkeeping and reporting.
- Identify inefficiencies across P2P (Purchase to Pay) and I2P (Invoice to Pay) processes, drive automation and process improvements.
- Support ongoing projects where possible.
Key Skills:
- Relevant degree/qualifications.
- Similar role held within the renewable energy sector.
- Proven experience managing or supervising a finance team in a high-volume environment.
- Strong knowledge of P2P and I2P processes, payment operations, and ERP systems.
- Experience with online banking platforms and treasury operations.
- Solid understanding of core accounting principles.
- Experience with Sage X3 and treasury systems (ideally FIS Integrity) - highly advantageous.
