Detailed Description From Employer:

Interim Accountant | York | 12-Month Contract | April Start

Our client is an international business based in York who are going through a genuinely interesting period of change, moving away from some clunky processes towards something leaner, smarter, and more automated. They’re looking for a hands-on Accountant to join their medium sized finance function, working closely with the Financial Controller, to take ownership of the numbers, produce the monthly management accounts for the UK and support in shaping the way finance works going forward. This is 12-month contract that needs someone who can hit the ground running quickly.

What you'll be doing:

  • Day to day, you'll be producing management accounts, posting journals, owning the P&L, reconciling the balance sheet, and managing customer payments.
  • But the bit that makes this role stand out is the process improvement piece. The business is actively evolving how it operates, moving away from manual workarounds and into more modern, automated systems. You'll be part of making that happen.
  • If you're someone who spots a better way of doing things and does something about it, you'll thrive here.

What we're looking for:

  • Qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), QBE, or actively studying,  what matters more is what you've done.
  • A strong grounding in management accounts and comfortable owning month-end, not just supporting it.
  • Experience of process improvement or system change would be highly desirable, but more importantly you’ll someone who can embrace it and keen to get involved in various projects.
  • Someone who can hit the ground running in April and make an impact from day one.
  • A strong Excel user.

This role will be based in their fantastic York offices, so needs someone within a commutable distance. Start and finish times are flexible to fit around your commitments outside of work, and the culture is highly innovative and supportive.
