Summary: The Interaction Designer role involves collaborating with the Buyer team to design user-centric solutions, utilizing evidence-based approaches to inform design decisions. The position requires creating prototypes and mock-ups, championing accessibility, and building strong stakeholder relationships to enhance design quality. The designer will also engage in user research and analytics to inform design strategies and ensure alignment with the GOV.UK Design System. This is a 6-month contract position with potential for extension, requiring BPSS and SC Clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design collaboratively and engage the Buyer team with the design process.
  • Record design iterations and decision-making as part of the daily process.
  • Use evidence to challenge assumptions and negotiate with product owners.
  • Create prototypes and mock-ups for user research and development support.
  • Set design direction and promote good practices.
  • Champion accessibility and ensure compliance with legal and security requirements.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders to improve design quality.
  • Utilize analytics data and user feedback to inform design strategy.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and ensure designs are consistent with the GOV.UK Design System.
  • Evaluate processes and delivery methods for measuring outcomes.
  • Interpret stakeholder needs into visual representations and simulations.
  • Collaborate actively within a group and network with others.
  • Consider strategic service design end-to-end.
  • Agree on the scope of research and priorities with the Buyer team.
