Summary: The Interim Head of Insurance will lead the global insurance programme for a FTSE250 company, reporting to the General Counsel. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in underwriting or broking, with experience in senior roles within sectors such as construction, infrastructure, engineering, oil & gas, or mining. This role requires expertise in captive insurance and managing global insurance programmes, with a focus on operational oversight and strategic development. The position is hybrid and has a duration of 18 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the corporate insurance portfolio, including renewals and broker relationships.
- Provide expert advice on complex risks, contract insurance clauses, and indemnities.
- Assess current insurance arrangements and recommend improvements.
- Define a fit-for-purpose, future-state insurance operating model.
- Ensure global alignment, particularly across high-risk and regulated markets like the U.S.
- Collaborate with Legal, Risk, Treasury, Procurement, and Operations functions.
Key Skills:
- Strong technical background from underwriting or broking, ideally with a leading firm.
- Experience in-house at a company within the construction, infrastructure, engineering, mining, or oil & gas sectors.
- Deep understanding of captive insurance and its role in complex risk programmes.
- Demonstrated experience managing global insurance programmes, including layered insurance towers and U.S. market exposure.
- ACII or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
