Summary: The Instructional Designer is tasked with creating innovative instructional programs and materials for the State Accounting Office (SAO), focusing on aligning these with organizational goals and learner needs. This role demands a combination of instructional design expertise, creativity, and communication skills to develop engaging learning experiences. Collaboration with subject matter experts and stakeholders is essential to ensure the accuracy and relevance of training content. The position allows for remote work but prefers local candidates for an on-site schedule on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough Training Needs Assessments and Audience Analyses to identify learning objectives and performance gaps, training participants, and delivery channels.
- Design, develop and maintain comprehensive, 508-compliant instructional materials, including course summary sheets, learning objectives, course outlines, storyboards, video scripts, job aids, quick reference sheets, and other supporting documents for training deliverables.
- Create online, interactive training materials in various formats, such as printable job aids, instructor-led (virtual and in-person), microlearning, videos, and eLearning courses.
- Generate program interactive, SCORM-compliant webinars, microlearning and full-length eLearning courses in eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia).
- Develop and administer a variety of assessments, including quizzes, tests, simulations, and practical exercises, to measure learner progress and comprehension.
- Accurately track and document the progress of instructional design projects, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather content and ensure the accuracy and relevancy of learning materials.
- Periodically review and update curriculum and existing training content to ensure accuracy, relevancy and alignment with organizational goals and industry standards.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in instructional design and adult learning theory.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Key Skills:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Instructional Design, Education, Training and Development, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Proficiency in eLearning authoring tools (e.g. Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia).
- Experience with instructional design methodologies (e.g. ADDIE, Kirkpatrick's Level of assessments, adult learning principles).
- Experience with SCORM-compliant course development and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Strong understanding of 508-compliance requirements and best practices for creating accessible learning materials.
- Expertise in designing and developing comprehensive instructional materials.
- Ability to create online, interactive training materials in various formats.
- Experience in developing and administering a variety of assessments and analyzing assessment data.
- Strong understanding of instructional design models (e.g. ADDIE, SAM).
- Proven ability to accurately track and document project progress.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with SMEs, leadership teams, and learners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to a hybrid work schedule.
Salary (Rate): £72,000 yearly
