Our client, a highly respected financial institution delivering critical banking services to millions of customers worldwide, are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Windows Engineer to help maintain and evolve a secure, resilient, and high-performing enterprise environment.
The Opportunity
As an Infrastructure Windows Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, support, optimisation, and continuous improvement of the Microsoft infrastructure estate.
Operating within a complex and highly regulated environment, you'll play a key role in ensuring the stability, security, and availability of core services that underpin critical banking operations.
This role offers exposure to large-scale enterprise technologies, infrastructure transformation programmes, and industry-leading security practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support large-scale Windows Server environments across production and non-production platforms.
- Manage core Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and certificate services.
- Support and optimise VMware and virtualised infrastructure environments.
- Drive infrastructure automation through PowerShell and other Scripting technologies.
- Deliver security hardening, vulnerability remediation, patching, and compliance activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure incidents, conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures.
- Collaborate with Security, Cloud, Network, and Engineering teams on infrastructure enhancements and strategic projects.
- Participate in major technology upgrades, platform migrations, and transformation initiatives.
- Ensure infrastructure services meet stringent availability, resilience, and regulatory requirements.
- Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation and operational procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.
About You
You'll be an experienced infrastructure professional with a strong engineering mindset and a passion for delivering resilient enterprise-scale solutions.
Essential Experience
- Extensive experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server environments.
- Strong expertise in Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
- Advanced PowerShell Scripting and automation skills.
- Experience supporting VMware vSphere and virtualisation technologies.
- Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure architecture and operational support.
- Experience delivering patch management, security remediation, and system life cycle management.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills within complex production environments.
- Knowledge of security controls, risk management, and infrastructure resilience.
- Experience working within ITIL-aligned service management frameworks.
- Must have an active SC Clearance
Desirable Experience
- Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud technologies.
- SCCM/MECM and Microsoft Intune.
- Azure DevOps, GitHub, and infrastructure automation tooling.
- Ansible, Terraform, or Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
- Financial services or other highly regulated industry experience.
- Exposure to cyber security frameworks and regulatory compliance requirements.
