Summary: The Infrastructure Storage & Backup Engineer role focuses on designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise storage and backup solutions, specifically utilizing Dell PowerMax, HP 3PAR, and Veritas NetBackup technologies. This position requires a highly experienced individual who will act as a subject matter expert and collaborate with internal teams and vendors to ensure high-availability environments. The role combines technical leadership with stakeholder engagement and operational excellence. Candidates must have the ability to work independently and possess strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the go-to expert for Dell PowerMax (2000 & 8000) and HP 3PAR storage platforms, as well as Veritas NetBackup and HP StoreOnce.
- Design and document high-level and low-level architecture for storage and backup systems.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure solutions meet business and technical requirements.
- Support the implementation and ongoing management of enterprise storage (PowerMax, 3PAR, Nimble, NetApp) and SAN fabrics, including switches and components.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across hardware and software in highly available infrastructure environments.
- Work closely with Dell to review infrastructure provisioning and validate proposed technical solutions.
- Contribute to system integration planning, documentation, and solution improvement initiatives.
- Lead or assist in the supervision of development and implementation teams as required.
- Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, proposing improvements aligned with organizational goals.
- Ensure infrastructure systems are compliant with internal standards and security requirements.
- Document configurations and assist with disaster recovery, monitoring, and system resilience.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience supporting and implementing Dell PowerMax (2000 & 8000) and HP 3PAR solutions.
- Strong background with Veritas NetBackup and HP StoreOnce backup technologies.
- Proficient in SAN fabric management, including deployment and troubleshooting of switches and components.
- Hands-on experience with Nimble, NetApp, and other enterprise-grade storage platforms.
- Solid understanding of Red Hat Linux and Windows Server operating systems.
- Scripting skills (e.g., shell scripting) for automation and operational efficiency.
- Familiarity with core networking protocols and topologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, including the creation of technical documentation.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and provide leadership on technical projects.
- Must be eligible for SC security clearance.
- Consulting background is a plus.
