Summary: The Infrastructure Engineer role involves leading the migration and deployment of a new Lenovo-based server infrastructure across four sites in East London and Essex. The position requires immediate availability and allows for some remote work during specific phases of the project. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, configuring, and testing server systems while ensuring secure connectivity and backup solutions. Strong hands-on experience with Lenovo hardware and server migrations is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and configure new Lenovo ThinkSystem Servers and storage (1 primary site, 3 secondary)
  • Set up RAID, storage pools, network interfaces, and install Windows Server OS
  • Integrate UPS (power backup) systems for redundancy
  • Configure Lenovo XClarity for centralised remote server management
  • Migrate existing virtual machines to the new environment, and upgrade all operating systems
  • Transition all core services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and File Services
  • Reconfigure Firewall rules to ensure secure connectivity
  • Set up and test Redstor backup solution, including backup schedule mirroring and restore tests
  • Carry out full testing of all systems, including failover and performance checks
  • Upon completion, Produce clear, detailed handover documentation covering configuration, migration, testing, and recovery plans

Key Skills:

  • Proven hands-on experience with server migrations, with key emphasis on Lenovo Think System hardware
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, and VM environments (Hyper-V or VMware)
  • Confident in networking fundamentals and Firewall rule changes
  • Experience with Redstor or similar backup platforms
  • Excellent testing and troubleshooting ability
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills
