Summary: The Infrastructure Engineer will join the Infrastructure Server Admin Team to provide daily support and project work related to servers, storage, Active Directory, and backups. The role requires attention to detail, problem ownership, and the ability to work collaboratively in a busy IT environment. Candidates must be flexible to switch between routine tasks and project work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently and accurately process requests for new VM's
  • Diligently keep systems updated to ensure good housekeeping practices, for example - ensuring Active Directory is kept up to date with new/retired VM's, ensuring new VM's are setup correctly for backups.
  • To ensure backups are reliable, current and tested
  • You will be involved with a variety of assignments and high priority project work.
  • Daily checks must be carried out and documented to ensure the reliability of our systems
  • You must keep up to date with a variety of alerts as they arrive to ensure the integrity and reliability of the VM environment, Backups, Storage, Certificates and all things that cover this area.
  • To ensure IT auditing and inventorying is performed as required.
  • To maintain and update documentation.

Key Skills:

  • Familiarity with VM Ware and ESX Hosts and VX Rail
  • Current and working experience of VM Ware and Virtual Servers
  • To be competent with working with Server 2016, 2019 and the current Server OS plus knowledge of upgrading from older server Operating systems
  • To the necessary knowledge to understand how to network the variety of VLANs to specific VM's.
  • Have good experience with Dell VSAN Storage
  • To have experience in troubleshooting issues in VSan environments.
  • You must have worked competently with Veeam backup software
  • Have experience of local and offsite backups using Veeam and Zerto replication
  • To have experience in creating and maintain a solid and reliable DR solution
  • Have a good understanding of Azure server, systems and applications, their operation and administration.
  • To have experience in setting up VM's, networks and security in Azure to include services, permissions etc.
  • You must know how and why external SSL certificates are used, in what environments and how to administer.
  • You will have experience of PKI Certification, implementation and troubleshooting
  • You will have excellent skills and working knowledge of how to work daily with Active Directory.
  • You will know how to deploy policies of varying settings to end users, groups and objects.
  • Scripting knowledge will be a benefit.
  • Understand how DFS works in an enterprise and how to administer.
  • DNS - Must know how to maintain, troubleshoot and amend internal and public DNS systems
  • Networking - Must understand and have some hands-on experience of networks
  • Email/O365 - Experience in managing the Back End configuration, including connectors, MX Records, email relays, bringing in acquired domains/businesses into the tenant.

Our customer is looking for a Infrastructure Engineer to join the existing Infrastructure Server Admin Team to provide day to day support and project work to the areas of Servers, storage, Active Directory and Backups plus more. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard. The candidate must be ready to own problems and to follow issues through to completion. You should be able to work in an extremely busy IT Server environment and to work closely and collaboratively with your team. You must be flexible enough to move between day to day ' business as usual ' activities project work.

Main Responsibilities
