Summary: The Infrastructure Architect (VMware Specialist) role is a contract position requiring active DV clearance, focused on developing an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform using VMware technologies. The specialist will design, deploy, and optimize virtualized environments tailored to client needs. This fully onsite role demands expertise in VMware solutions and collaboration with infrastructure teams. The contract duration is 6 months with a potential extension, and an urgent start is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement VMware-based IaaS solutions tailored to client requirements and industry best practices.
  • Configure and optimise VMware vRealize Orchestrator (VRO) workflows to automate provisioning, deployment, and management tasks.
  • Manage VMware Cloud Director (VCD) instances, including setting up resource pools, organizations, virtual data centers, and networking.
  • Implement and configure NSX-T for software-defined networking and security within the virtualised environment.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and operations teams to integrate VMware solutions with existing systems and technologies.
  • Provide technical expertise and support during testing, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues related to VMware infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including architectural diagrams, standard operating procedures, and technical guides.
  • Stay abreast of emerging VMware technologies, trends, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing VMware-based virtualisation solutions, focusing on vRealize Orchestrator (VRO), VMware Cloud Director (VCD), and NSX-T.
  • In-depth knowledge of virtualisation concepts, VMware vSphere architecture, and related technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation and customisation of VMware environments.
  • Strong understanding of software-defined networking (SDN) principles and experience with NSX-T configuration and management.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative Agile team environment and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • VMware certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) are highly desirable.
