Summary: The IT Project Manager (Digital Delivery) role involves overseeing critical Digital & IT projects within a major infrastructure programme. The position requires managing multiple concurrent projects while ensuring successful delivery against time, cost, and quality objectives. The role demands strong stakeholder engagement and communication across various teams and suppliers. This is a contract position with a focus on delivering complex projects in a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of Digital & IT projects from initiation through to closure
- Develop and maintain Project Initiation Documents (PIDs), including robust planning and estimation
- Manage full project lifecycle: design, build, test, deployment, and business readiness
- Create and maintain detailed project schedules, managing dependencies and critical paths
- Oversee third-party suppliers and delivery partners, ensuring contractual and quality standards are met
- Identify, manage, and escalate risks, issues, and change requests
- Ensure strong stakeholder engagement and communication at all levels
- Deliver projects in line with governance, security, and regulatory frameworks
- Provide accurate reporting to programme leadership and governance boards
- Contribute to continuous improvement and lessons learned across delivery teams
Key Skills:
- Proven track record as an IT Project Manager delivering complex projects
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects (£50k – £1.5m+)
- Strong understanding of project governance, planning, and controls
- Experience working with third-party suppliers and delivery partners
- Ability to operate in highly regulated or complex environments (e.g., infrastructure, construction, energy, or similar)
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Familiarity with enterprise IT systems, infrastructure, and applications delivery
