Summary: The Information Governance Specialist (Data Protection) role is a 4-month contract position focused on supporting a National Data programme within the public sector. The specialist will ensure secure access and lawful processing of data, driving compliance with information governance legislation. The position requires collaboration with various teams and the provision of expert advice on data protection matters. The role is classified as inside IR35 and offers a hybrid working arrangement in Edinburgh.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist advice in Data Protection knowledge and expertise to the Technology Service for the national data programme.
- Ensure lawful and secure processing of personal identifiable data through due diligence.
- Ensure new software/technical solutions comply with data protection legislative requirements.
- Draft accountability and governance documentation, including Data Protection Impact Assessments.
- Engage with the wider product community to ensure appropriate consideration of information governance.
- Collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines to support cross-disciplinary delivery teams.
Key Skills:
- Extensive experience in Information Governance and Data Protection legislation.
- Experience in drafting and conducting data protection impact assessments.
- Ability to communicate and influence at senior levels and present at various levels.
- Extensive knowledge of information governance and data protection legislative issues.
- Understanding of legislative compliance for public sector organisations.
- Ability to assimilate complex information quickly.
- Strong understanding of the regulatory environment.
- Proven expertise in implementing data protection legislation.
- Experience in management, including coaching and mentoring team members.
