Summary: The IFRS 17 Technical Accountant role involves supporting a leading Lloyd’s insurer in delivering IFRS 17 reporting. The position requires collaboration with Group Finance and internal stakeholders to ensure data accuracy and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of IFRS 17 and experience in preparing financial statements. This role is critical for enhancing the IFRS 17 expense process and producing insightful analysis for internal and board reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the quarterly production of IFRS 17 results
- Review and enhance the IFRS 17 expense process, including assumptions, estimates, allocations, and reconciliations
- Coordinate with stakeholders to gather and validate financial data
- Prepare consolidation adjustments using Moody’s Risk Integrity and upload journals into OneStream
- Reconcile IFRS 17 results to IFRS 4 / UK GAAP across both P&L and balance sheet
- Produce quarterly IFRS 17 commentary for internal MI packs and board reporting
- Develop and maintain IFRS 17 templates and documentation
- Assist with interim and year-end financial statements and disclosures
- Respond to Head Office queries and support external audit processes
- Drive continuous improvements in IFRS 17 reporting processes
Key Skills:
- Qualified accountant (ACA or equivalent)
- Post-qualified experience, ideally within insurance or financial services
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS 17, IFRS 4, and UK GAAP
- Experience preparing IFRS 17 financial statements and variance analysis
