Summary: The IBMi Specialist role involves providing high-level technical support for the IBMi Operating System, including building new LPARs and assisting with large-scale service migrations and OS upgrades. The position requires expertise in various IBMi components and third-party projects, along with scripting skills and a collaborative approach to work. Remote work is possible, but occasional visits to Sheffield for team meetings are expected.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build new LPARs and support large-scale project migrations across regions.
- Perform operating system upgrades and verify readiness for upgrades.
- Configure and support IBMi third-party projects and tools.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams globally.
- Learn and support internal startup, shutdown, and roleswap procedures.
- Utilize scripting and coding skills in various programming languages.
Key Skills:
- High-level technical knowledge of IBMi Operating System and OS/400 components.
- Experience with IBMi third-party projects such as Connect:Direct, IWS, and PowerHA.
- Proficient in scripting and coding in languages like IBMi Control Language, RPG, and Ansible.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multi-functional groups.
- Understanding of SLIP installs and MSD.
