Summary: The IBM Consultant role involves providing technical input throughout the change lifecycle, focusing on the payments Middleware Integration Platform. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical input into all stages of the change lifecycle, including estimating, high-level design support, creating detailed designs, development, testing, and code reviews.
  • Assist in the evolution of the payments Middleware Integration Platform to support changing requirements and working practices.
  • Identify, implement, or suggest changes that improve service to customers.
  • Engage and build relationships with business users and technical stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues.
  • Identify technical risks and work with architects and developers to mitigate these risks.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across business and technical domains.
  • Share best practices as part of a wider team.
  • Maintain an understanding of payment industry strategies and best practices.
  • Ensure closure of technical knowledge gaps that hinder issue resolution and change delivery.

Key Skills:

  • At least 8+ years of in-depth experience in integration technologies (IBM WMB / IIB / ACE) at an enterprise scale.
  • Working knowledge of Java and/or C#.
  • Experience with multiple transport protocols (MQ, HTTP/REST, FTP, DB) and messaging formats (CWF, JSON, SOAP/XML).
  • In-depth knowledge and practical experience of defining and performing code reviews to drive software standards and best practices.
  • Experience with SDLC/Dev Ops - Git, CI/CD pipeline frameworks such as Jenkins/TFS, SonarQube, Nexus.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in Agile development (Scrum, Kanban) using tools such as Jira.
  • Strong grasp of automation, continuous integration (CI/CD), test-driven development (TDD) using RIT, and continuous refactoring.

  • Working as part of a team assisting in the evolution of the payments Middleware Integration Platform to keep fit for the future, support changing requirements and working practices in a fast-changing technology landscape.
  • Identifying, implementing or suggesting - changes that improve service to customers.
  • Engage and build relationships with business users and technical stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues.
  • Bring experience and platform knowledge to bear on complex integration tasks, identifying technical risk, working with architects and developers to mitigate this risk using architecture spikes and proofs-of-concept.
  • Working with key stakeholders across business and technical domains.
  • Working as part of a wider team to share best practice.
  • Maintain an understanding of Payment industry strategies and best practice.
  • Ensure the closure of technical knowledge gaps (which if remained open would hinder issue resolution and change delivery).
