Job Details
Qualified Paralegal / Legal Assistant - experienced in Information Governance , policy updating and contract advice.
DUTIES:
- Working across the council’s departments and with its partners and stakeholders, offering expert advise around information governance, data protection governance and privacy for the council, promoting best practice and compliance requirements.
- Updating and maintaining the suite of standards and policies (internal and external) required to ensure its on-going compliance with all aspects of data protection and information governance.
- Liaising with departmental representatives, information asset owners, ICT security and assistants across the council, you will support with the systems in operation to ensure a consistent and effective approach to data governance.
EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
- The candidate will have a law degree or CILEx level 6 Diploma in Law and Practice or relevant post-graduate qualification.
- Substantial work experience of data protection, information governance and security and related professional issues.
- Working knowledge of legislation affecting data protection and freedom of information, such as the common law duty of confidentiality, re-use of public sector information regulations, the Crime and Disorder Act, Human Rights Act and the European Commission directive on data protection.
- Able to work as part of a team under pressure within tight timescales and have the ability to build and maintain positive working arrangements with colleagues, clients and all other relevant parties.
Days/hours to be agreed working Monday to Friday.
Hybrid working model with office / home working .
