Summary: The Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Consultant role at Sword involves joining a solutions engineering team to design and deploy modern infrastructure solutions across data and cloud environments, particularly within regulated sectors like finance and energy. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deploy modern infrastructure solutions across data and cloud environments.
- Work within a project team, taking personal responsibility for specific technical deliverables.
- Provide high-quality design documentation including high-level, low-level, and operational manuals.
- Participate in on-call escalation engineering rota.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams to deliver large or complex multidisciplinary projects.
- Write clear and concise technical documentation as part of project delivery.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in designing and deploying infrastructure solutions in regulated environments.
- Experience with Windows and/or Linux server environment build and administration.
- Knowledge of enterprise virtualization technologies such as Nutanix, VMware, and/or Hyper-V.
- Experience in designing and implementing public cloud infrastructure services on Azure and/or AWS.
- Deployment and administration of Active Directory & Entra ID identity services.
- Deployment and administration of Microsoft 365 Intune for endpoint management.

About the role: We have an opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic candidate to join our technically focused solutions engineering team as an Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Consultant. This role offers the opportunity to work on a interesting and challenging projects involving a range of industry leading technology stacks. The role takes place primarily during UK core business hours with participation in an on-call escalation engineering Rota required.
Requirements
Essential:
- Proven experience designing and deploying a range of modern infrastructure solutions across data and cloud preferably within regulated environments (finance, energy, public sector)
- Experience working within a project team, with personal responsibility for specific technical deliverables
- Experience providing high quality design documentation (high level design / low level design / as built design / operational manuals) (candidates should be able to evidence their experience across a mix of at least 50% of the following technical skills to be considered)
Technical skills:
- Windows and/or Linux server environment build and administration
- Enterprise virtualization technologies such as Nutanix, VMware, and/or Hyper-V
- Design and/or implementing of public cloud infrastructure services on Azure and/or AWS
- Active Directory & Entra ID identity services deployment and administration
- Microsoft 365 Intune for endpoint management deployment and administration
- Microsoft 365 productivity services deployment (Exchange Online / SharePoint Online / Teams etc.)
