Overview
We are seeking an experienced HVR Solution Architect to design and implementing a secure, scalable data integration solution to replicate a Legacy Oracle DW data feeds using HVR technology within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This role sits at the intersection of data architecture, cloud engineering, and security governance, ensuring that data can be reliably transferred from MOD source systems through the MOD gateway into a newly designed OCI landing zone. The architect will review and understand the end-to-end solution, including connectivity and storage, and will review HVR documentation of the Legacy HVR feed to Legacy SDW1. They will install and configure HVR at the target end of a new feed. Overall, the role ensures that a compliant, production-ready landing zone and HVR integration capability is established, forming a critical foundation for the transition of data feeds from a Legacy Oracle platform to Oracle OC.
Key responsibilities
- Design and deliver HVR-based data integration architecture replicating the Legacy feed for SDW1, to an SDW2 landing zone
- Produce High-Level and Low-Level Designs for HVR aspects of the solution
- Support the OCI architect to define and implement secure landing zone architecture (OCI storage, DB, networking)
- Configure and deploy HVR target agent in OCI aligned to SDW1 setup
- Analyse data volumes, frequency, retention, and life cycle requirements
- Develop cost, capacity, and volumetric forecasts (HVR licensing, storage, infrastructure)
- Lead governance and approvals (SbD, DEAB, MOD SOC) and prepare ATT evidence packs
- Support network connectivity enablement (eg, gateway changes, CRs)
- Oversee system testing of landing zone and integration components
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure integration readiness
Key Skills and Experience
Essential
Strong experience with HVR (data replication and ingestion tools)
Proven expertise in cloud data architecture, ideally in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
Experience designing data landing zones and ingestion pipelines
Knowledge of data modelling, storage, and life cycle management
Experience producing HLD and LLD documentation
Understanding of secure data transfer, encryption, and network architecture
Experience working in regulated or secure environments with governance processes
Strong stakeholder communication and documentation skills
Highly Desirable
Experience with MOD, defence, or government environments
Familiarity with SbD, DEAB (AtT), MOD SOC approvals
Hands-on experience with Oracle Database, OCI Object Storage, and networking
Knowledge of OCI Data Integration or Oracle AI Data Platform (AIDP)
Experience supporting large-scale data migration or transformation programmes
Clearance: MOD SC
Travel
Hybrid role, predominantly remote, but some travel to Client site will be required (estimate routinely up to 1 day per week to London and/or the South/South East eg Bristol, with occasional multi-day workshops/meetings).
