Summary: The Human Resources Policy Advisor at BCP Council is responsible for developing, reviewing, and implementing People & Culture policies while ensuring compliance with legislation. The role requires strategic thinking and stakeholder engagement to shape policies effectively. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in HR, particularly in managing employee relations and policy writing. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, review, and implementation of new and updated People & Culture policies.
- Ensure compliance with evolving legislation and guidance, translating changes into practical policy updates.
- Provide expert advice to colleagues on policy and procedural matters.
- Prepare and present Equality Impact Assessments to the EIA Panel.
- Engage stakeholders through workshops and presentations, ensuring their input shapes our policies.
- Think strategically, connecting national legislation, internal processes, and policy development.
- Comply with all council policies and statutory requirements, including the Equality Act, Health and Safety at Work Act, and Data Protection Act.
Key Skills:
- Full member of the CIPD.
- Degree or equivalent qualification/experience.
- Experience in managing employee relations and writing policies in workplaces with trade unions.
- Able to break down complex HR processes and turn them into clear, easy-to-follow policies and procedures.
- Focused on creating a positive experience for employees by writing in plain English and making sure guidance is simple and accessible.
