Huawei RAN Engineering Specialist

Summary: The RAN Engineering Specialist role involves leading complex fault investigations on 2G/4G RAN sites and BSC issues, as well as managing the BSC disaster recovery process. The position requires the creation of configuration scripts for live network loading and may involve occasional overnight work. This hybrid role is based in various cities including London, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, and Manchester, and is classified as inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead complex fault investigations on 2G/4G RAN site/cell.
• Lead complex fault investigations on BSC issues.
• Creation of configuration scripts/commissioning files ready for loading onto the live network either using Huawei configuration platform or using WIM Unison system.
• Creation and management of BSC disaster recovery process.
• Regular testing of the BSC disaster recovery process.
• Implementation of BSC disaster recovery process in case of failure of existing traffic carrying BSC.
• Occasional overnight working for script implementation (such as BSC reparenting).
• Occasional lab based testing.

Key Skills:

• Excellent understanding of RAN 2G/4G.
• Excellent understanding of Huawei system design and configuration.
• Excellent understanding of how to write and implement Huawei configuration scripts/commissioning files on 2G/4G Site/BSC on Huawei MAE and WIM Unison platforms.
