Summary: The HSE Engineer will be integral to a major energy project focused on decommissioning and carbon capture, ensuring the effective development and application of safety management systems throughout the project's phases. This role involves leading risk management activities and ensuring compliance with HSE regulations. The position is contract-based and classified as outside IR35. The role is situated in Talacre, Wales, within the Oil & Gas/Energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define, implement, and oversee HSE procedures at both project and construction levels
  • Lead risk management activities (HAZOP, HAZID, Risk Assessments, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory HSE requirements
  • Plan and conduct internal HSE audits
  • Coordinate and prepare HSE documentation in line with CDM regulations
  • Investigate and report on incidents and accidents
  • Evaluate supplier HSE documentation and readiness to meet project standards
  • Support and provide cover for other HSE roles (Trainer, PTW Officer, HSE Officer)
  • Track and report HSE performance and KPIs

Key Skills:

  • Qualification in HSE or an engineering-related field
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
  • ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certification
  • 3–7 years’ experience in the Oil & Gas sector, with onshore project exposure
  • Solid understanding of design regulations and site investigation practices

We're working with a leading player in the energy sector on a large-scale decommissioning and carbon capture initiative. As an HSE Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the safety management system is effectively developed and applied across all phases of the project.
