Summary: The HR Business Partner – Employee Relations Focus role is designed for an experienced HR professional with a strong background in Employee Relations. The position involves acting as a strategic partner to senior leaders, managing complex ER cases, and ensuring compliance with HR policies across a national organization. The role requires occasional travel within the UK and is based in London with a hybrid working arrangement. This is a full-time, 6-month fixed-term contract.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a strategic HR partner to senior leaders and line managers across the business
- Lead on complex Employee Relations cases, including disciplinaries, grievances, performance management, absence, restructures, and change programmes
- Coach and upskill managers to build confidence and capability in handling ER matters
- Ensure consistent application of HR policies, employment law, and best practice across the organisation
- Support organisational change initiatives, including consultations and TUPE where required
- Use people data and insights to inform decision-making and identify ER trends and risks
- Collaborate closely with central HR functions (Reward, Talent, L&D) to deliver joined-up people solutions
- Travel occasionally to sites across the UK to support leaders and employees as needed
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as an HR Business Partner or Senior HR Advisor within a complex, multi-site or national organisation
- Strong, hands-on Employee Relations expertise with the confidence to manage complex and sensitive cases
- Solid knowledge of UK employment law and its practical application
- Commercially minded with the ability to balance risk, employee experience, and business outcomes
- Credible and confident communicator, able to influence and challenge senior stakeholders
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, changeable environment
- CIPD qualified (Level 5 minimum; Level 7 desirable)
